History

Coffs Harbour Basketball Association was established in 1968 by the visionary Jim Gallagher.

The association started out with a humble 150 mini ball players, laying the foundation for a thriving basketball community in Coffs Harbour.

The association quickly gained momentum, with passionate volunteers and community support. They began organising local competitions, and teams from various age groups and skill levels. The Coffs Harbour community embraced basketball, and it soon became and remains a popular sport in the region.

Over the years, Coffs Harbour basketball teams have achieved remarkable success in regional and state-level competitions. Local talent emerged, and several players went on to represent state and even Australia. The associations dedication to player development and a strong competitive spirit were instrumental in these achievements.

The associations representative program the Coffs Harbour Suns is one of the strongest country associations on the north coast. The Suns have proven to be a dominant force in the Waratah Junior and Senior leagues. Winning numerous titles and accolades which is a true testament to the dedication, skill and commitment of both players and coaching staff.
